Testimonials
“Onyx's steady presence, nonjudgmental approach, and strong theoretical knowledge offer a clinical consultation space that allows for deep self-reflection and growth. I have worked with them for years and continue to learn new things about myself and my clients, in large part because of their warmth, containment, and commitment to healing justice for both clinicians and clients. Onyx has helped me to build a practice that truly honors my interests and my limits, and in doing so, I have felt more spaciousness and less burnout as a therapist. It has meant so much for my identities and values to be mirrored in a supervisor and Onyx's thoughtful consideration of personhood and politics has offered me a place to ground myself and my work. I cannot recommend Onyx as a clinical supervisor strongly enough. I am truly so grateful to know them.”
— Alice Wang, LCSW
“In our 1:1 consultation sessions, Onyx provides a warm, heart-centered space for me to reflect, stretch, and grow. They have such a wealth of knowledge and experience, I feel so taken care of by them. I was seeking consultation support from someone with an intersectional lens and a diverse range of clinical skills. I’ve learned so much in our work together, and I feel like I’m a better clinician (and person!) because of it.”
— Laura Grossman, LMFT
“I have worked with Onyx in a variety of ways, including as a member of the Kintsugi Therapist Collective, a member of a BIPOC group consultation space they facilitate, in individual consultation, and in organizational level consultation for my group practice. Onyx has been an invaluable source of grounding support and a light in the sometimes dark land of being a care worker. Onyx has provided practical, emotional, and psychospiritual guidance to my practice in a way that feels welcoming to all parts of me. Their facilitation of group spaces is skillful and nuanced. Their individual support is responsive, practical, and action-oriented. I have worked with many consultants and supervisors over the course of my career and none have offered me what my relationship with Onyx has. Onyx demonstrates a deep commitment to living their values, and their ability to exist in the gray areas and hold multiple realities with respect is a unique and standout quality. I have experienced great healing in my ability to trust others and accept help through my relationship with Onyx.”
— Leah Cohen, LCSW
“Onyx’s consultation has been an invaluable support to me as a therapist, new private practice owner, and human. Over our years of working together I have found them to be consistently thoughtful, knowledgeable, generous, and kind. In other past consultation spaces I have felt wary of being able to bring all parts of myself into the room, but I have never felt that way with Onyx. Instead, I really feel that they welcome me however I show up each time we meet. The presence, care, and depth of clinical/field experience they bring to their work has allowed me to build a thriving business that also cares for me. With their support I have built a private practice where I earn a comfortable wage, work four days a week, contribute to retirement, pay myself sick time and PTO, and take multiple weeks off each year. It is clear to me that Onyx truly cares for care workers. Now more than ever, we all need care to be able to sustainably do this work. If you’re thinking about reaching out to them- do it! You too deserve to experience their abundant support.”
— Margee Quinn, LICSW
“Working with Onyx exceeded my expectations. When I had my first call with them to determine whether they would be a good fit, I immediately felt better about the issues I was facing in my office culture around sexual orientation and gender identity. Onyx understood and empathized with the situation, quickly grasped my office’s structure and power dynamics and culture, and was genuinely invested in making my work environment safer for employees and clients who are LGBTQ+. As we proceeded to work together over the span of a year, Onyx was easy to communicate with, flexible, responsive, and so helpful. They hosted a number of workshops for different groups of office staff, adjusting each one according to specific cultural sensitivities and baseline levels of understanding. More than anything, I so appreciated having Onyx to talk to, as I navigated office politics as a queer person in a heteronormative and patriarchal field. I would recommend Onyx to anyone who is seeking consultation, trainings, and other work on culture change.”
— N.S., Temple University
“Consulting with Onyx has been such an incredible asset to me both personally and for my practice. They approach their work from such a caring, human, and holistic place that fosters meaningful connection while helping you grow as a clinician. Onyx makes space for the complexities of what it means to be a whole person in our work that extends far beyond the professional boxes we’ve been trained to limit ourselves to.”
